I have been working as a research assistant at the Intelligent Autonomous Systems Group since December 2011 under the supervision of Dejan Pangeric. I am currently a student enrolled at Technical University of Munich undertaking Master of Robotics, Cognition and Intelligence.
My work at IAS focuses on RGB-D mapping of indoor areas primarily for semantic mapping using handheld devices.
Prior to working at IAS and starting my Master's program I obtained my Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronics) / Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) at Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia. I have also worked as an electrical engineer at ANCA, Melbourne, Australia. Please don't hestiate to contact me for a complete resume.
I am currently working on creating a framework to perform semi automated semantic mapping of 3D Models as captured from a Mircrosoft Kinect or the like. Here is a video that shows a small demo of the pipeline. This is still work in progress
Before my work on semantic mapping I have been working on techniques for improving registration in RGB-D SLAM. Particularly, I looked at combining the depth information from the kinect with 2D features from the RGB camera. I have implemented this registration method as a ROS package
